About K.M. Woods Physiotherapy - Glasgow

KM Woods Physiotherapy’s central Glasgow clinic in Royal Crescent provides expert assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and other conditions.

We have six specialised and experienced physiotherapists who can assess, treat and manage dance injuries, sports injuries, lower back pain, vestibular problems and general muscle and joint pains.

We provide a modern, comfortable clinic with state of the art equipment and plenty of free parking. Weekend appointments and evening appointments are available.

Musculoskeletal Conditions

KM Woods private physiotherapy clinic has extensive expertise in the assessment and management of a wide variety of pain conditions and injuries. If you are looking for back pain relief, neck pain relief, have sciatica or feel you have a slipped disc, we can help you recover and get back to doing the things you love.

We can manage acute back pain, chronic back pain, spinal stenosis, knee pain and leg pain, arthritis, joint pains, muscle strains and many other pain conditions. Apart from physiotherapy, treatments we offer include acupuncture, sports massage and Pilates.

We see over 50 people with whiplash neck pain at our clinics weekly, and can help with education, advice, postural awareness, a home exercise programme and acupuncture.

Dance Injuries

Our physios have extensive skills and experience in assessing dance technique and dance injuries or performance injuries, especially in younger persons. We cover injuries from ballet, Irish and Highland dance and more modern types such as hip hop and contemporary dance. Teenagers keen on dance may find that their flexibility and growth spurts go with a temporary degree of muscle weakness, exposing them to injury during the repetitive loading periods of dance practice and performance.

We commonly deal with a number of musculoskeletal pain conditions including: foot pain, hamstring strain, shin splints, anterior knee pain, groin strain and Achilles tendonitis. Our physio can analyse your dance technique and identify and correct weaknesses to prevent further problems.

Sports Injuries

Sports physio is one of our specialities and we see a wide range of sports injuries and conditions every day.

  • Running Injuries and pain. Both recreational and elite runners are routinely seen by our clinics, as long stints on the road, along with perhaps limited preparation, can lead to pain problems. We don’t just concentrate on the pain problem but look at the biomechanics of the person as they run to assess efficiency and identify potential problems. Sports physiotherapy can then work on good flexibility, strength and muscle balance throughout the running cycle.
  • Football is the source of many pain and injury problems, including ankle sprains, knee ligament sprains, hamstrings strains, groin strains and knee cartilage injuries. We can quickly identify the problem structure and return you to you chosen activity as soon as possible.
  • Golf players usually continue to play until their pain problem interferes with their game and then they come to us. We assess and treat a number of conditions including tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, upper back tension, shoulder restrictions and wrist pain.
  • Boxing injuries are also often seen in our clinics, with upper body pain and a stiff, bend forward posture typically adopted as a boxing stance being common presentations.
  • Gym trainers routinely develop problems due to overtraining or incorrect technique. Once we have treated the pain problems we can teach good training postures and technique.

Home Visits - Domiciliary Physiotherapy

We know it can be difficult to get to a clinic, particularly if you are elderly, unwell or have had a recent operation. We offer a domiciliary physiotherapy service where our physios will come to your home and carry out the assessment and treatment in your own familiar surroundings.

We can help with:

  • Poor balance and mobility, especially in older persons
  • Post operative rehabilitation, for instance after hip replacement, knee replacement or spinal operation
  • Stroke rehab, continuing work on balance and mobility after NHS physio completion
  • Falls
  • Walking aids and appliances

Vertigo & Dizziness

Vertigo, dizziness or lightheadedness can be unpleasant and challenging symptoms leading to nausea, inability to perform normal activities and loss of balance. This can be due to BPPV, Meniere’s disease, labyrinthitis or occur without obvious cause.

We can assess and treat vestibular dysfunction, where the ear canals are not working correctly. Our physios can perform the Epley manoeuvre to restore inner ear crystals which have moved out of position.

Occupational Health & Workplace Assessments

Musculoskeletal conditions are a major cause of work loss, sickness absence and suffering amongst the working population. We are up to date with all the current legislation and can help both private businesses and public sector bodies to optimise the health and wellbeing of their staff.
