Beijing Blog Star Spotting, Rowing FinalsComing towards the end of the first week over here in Beijing and competition is starting to hot up, and no where more so than out here at the rowing course. Yesterday was semi final day for most of our boats and there were some fantastic tussles between GB and New Zealand. Both countries had a pretty good day with a number of crews progressing to the weekends finals. The finals promise to be cut throat international racing at its best! Apart from training and racing one of the popular pastimes at an Olympics is star watching, and I don’t mean looking at the sky. Sporting super stars from all over the globe have descended on Beijing and I have been lucky enough to spot quite a few. Roger Federer and Rafal Nadal have both been spotted in the last few days, as has Chinese basketball god Yao Ming, USA basketball star Kobi Bryant, Sir Clive Woodward sat next to me at the white water canoeing, and George W Bush was also spotted. I will have to leave the star gazing for a few days now as we enter the business end of the rowing programme. Until next time Darryl Reid, Director of Clinic Central, is one of our network physiotherapists at Beijing. |
